sabbatical logs

​I emailed StoryCorps about their Agreement of Terms.  What I discovered is that I would be considered owner of material but they would have the right to do use it even for commercial purposes.  I decided not to give this right away so I will not be submitting my project; however, I believe it to be a great option for my students if they wanted to archive their future oral history projects and keep it in the Library of Congress. 
I am finally finished with the editing of all the recordings done with the women in my family—my grandmother, two great aunts, and my grandmother’s cousin/s.  It definitely is time consuming but so worth it.  Listening and re-listening has brought me on a very personal journey.  What a sad story to grow up hearing but yet so powerful, compelling and empowering.  I am putting all the footage into a video that I will then put onto the Site.  I am also in the midst of creating lessons to use in my classroom and other teachers may use as well.  I am brainstorming on making the site where people can tell their story, share, use the lessons in their own classrooms and add on more lessons of their own that could be used with the footage.  The possibilities are endless…it’s exciting!  The idea of creating a whole methodology on teaching with Stories has also seeped into my mind.  What a great way to engage students and remember…
